Firstly, I would like to wish you all the very best for the year ahead!

January offers opportunities to assess what you need to do and how, what you want to keep in your life and what you want to throw out. The year begins with two carryovers from 2016. One is Mercury, still retrograde. Mercury moves back into Sagittarius on the 4^th Jan making it somewhat challenging to stay focused and on track. The good news is that Mercury goes direct on January 8^th.  The other carryover aspect is the conjunction between Mars and Neptune. This makes the first few days of January and bit doozy. You’ll feel as if you need another holiday to recover from the last one!

If you’ve put in the effort, you should start seeing some rewards as Jupiter sextiles Saturn around the 1st. There’s some good energy around for relationships, as Venus moves into Pisces on the 3^rd until the beginning of Feb, softening all the hard hearts.
Power plays could happen around the 7^th as Sun meets up for a day with Pluto.  Use it to your advantage to fuel these longer-term goals.
We have a Full Moon on the 12^th in Cancer. This involves a Cardinal cross between Pluto, Jupiter as well as Uranus. Sparks could fly and emotions can be high.  As Mercury moves into serious Capricorn again, we take a serious reality check over the next few weeks.

Mars squares Saturn on the 19^th putting a brake on things which can be frustrating and the Sun moves to the realm of ideas and possibilities in Aquarius, which could come in handy with now. You’re going to need to keep a cool head.
It seems Saturn wants to start the year of lecturing the other planets, He also meets up with Venus on the 27^th. This will be the first of four meet-ups this year and can indicate challenges in the areas which Venus represents…both relationships and finances.

The New Moon in Aquarius signifies the start of the Chinese New Year. Mars is happy as he moves into his own turf and supplies a huge amount of courage and confidence as well as energy over the next 6 weeks. The Chinese New Year is the year of the Fire Rooster, a time of progressive action.

The final aspect for the month is on the 29^th between Mercury and Pluto. Together these two can conspire to bring up some deep issues.
