Week 33 — What Is the World Heading Towards?

Fauci & Bill Gates — Will the Powerful Face Consequences?

Our first question asks: Will powerful people under investigation actually face consequences, or will they ultimately escape serious accountability?

Fauci's cards suggest scrutiny, resistance and a prolonged battle to defend his position, but also indicate that he may ultimately come through the situation better than expected. Bill Gates' reading looks considerably more turbulent, with Judgement, Death and the Tower suggesting a major reckoning, followed by the possibility of loss of status or influence.

Iran - Is the Cycle Finally Changing?

The Iran conflict has followed a familiar pattern for years - escalation, quiet periods and then another eruption. This week's cards suggest that this cycle may finally be approaching a turning point. There may still be another obstacle or flare-up, but 6 Cups, 3 Cups and Ace of Swords point toward renewed negotiations, reconciliation and a decisive attempt at resolution.

Oil & the Global Economy

The cards suggest another significant movement in oil prices during August, although they don't scream an uncontrolled global energy crisis. Temperance and the Pentacles cards suggest attempts to contain the economic effects, while the Knight of Wands and 3 of Swords warn of a sudden shock or disruption.

Russia & Ukraine

The Russia–Ukraine reading also points toward a difficult period before progress. 5 Pentacles and the Hermit suggest hardship and isolation, but 4 Wands and 6 Pentacles bring the possibility of agreement and greater stability. The 10 Swords may represent the ending of the current phase of the conflict, followed by 2 Wands and Page of Wands - a new direction.

AI - Who Will Control the Technology?

AI may become one of the biggest stories of the year. The cards don't particularly suggest AI destroying the economy; instead, Emperor, 4 Swords and Ace of Swords strongly suggest governments stepping in with clearer rules.

Possible areas include employment, privacy, misinformation, deepfakes, copyright, AI-generated material, voice and likeness rights, training data and accountability. We are already reaching a point where it is increasingly difficult to know what is genuine - and that problem itself may force governments to act.

South Africa - A Turning Point?

South Africa's reading looks more gradual than explosive. Queen of Wands, 3 Pentacles and Page of Pentacles suggest new initiatives and people working together, while 7 Wands and 5 Wands show resistance and competing interests. The strong Pentacles presence suggests that economic security, jobs, resources and independence could be central to the country's changing direction.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin produced one of the strongest readings of the week. Tower → Ace of Pentacles → Magician → Ace of Swords suggests a significant disruption followed by a new opportunity and decisive movement. The reading then becomes increasingly financial, ending with King of Pentacles and 10 Pentacles.

For Week 33, the cards therefore favour a significant move upward after an initial shake-up, rather than the sideways or trap-like energy we've seen in some previous readings.

Perhaps the biggest question this week is not simply "What happens next?" but "Are some of these long-running cycles finally beginning to change?"
